Nannycare Baby Formula | My Organic Formula

Finding the perfect baby formula for your newborn or sensitive little one can be more than a little daunting. With so many options, advertised promises, and ingredients to consider, it is easy to feel overwhelmed.

When looking for natural options most like breastmilk, parents are turning to goat milk-based formulas. Not only are these baby formulas a nutritionally complete alternative or supplement to mothers’ milk but they are extremely gentle on immature digestive systems.

A very well-regarded goat milk-based baby formula produced by a co-operative of farms in some of New Zealand’s richest pastures and certified by European infant formula standards is the Nannycare line of formulas.

Nannycare: History

Nannycare Logo | My Organic Company

In the early 1990s, the founders of Nannycare were inspired by the idea that parents deserved a genuine choice of breast milk alternatives rather than being restricted to cow’s milk-based formula.

During a trip across New Zealand, the designers of Nannycare chanced upon the world’s first goat milk-based formula. They were struck by the unique product and the true similarities of breastmilk.

The idea of an alternative to cow milk-based formulas gave rise to the Nannycare brand.

Baby Formula Regulations

Fully Regulated, Clinically Proven | My Organic Company

Goat milk is one of the oldest sources of breast milk alternatives and human nutrition over history.

When modern infant formulas were first developed, they were largely made from cow’s milk, apparently only because it is widely available.

With the advent of the New Zealand goat milk success in the 1990s, goat milk-based formulas were readily accepted in many countries. At this time in Europe and the UK, the legislation still had restrictions limiting the choice to cow’s milk-based only.

Baby Formula Legislation

Nannycare passionately believed in the importance of choice for all families, so they spent decades investing in research and clinical trials to bring regulatory changes to the EU & UK.

In March 2014, Nannycare succeeded, and to this day, Nannycare continues to invest in goat milk formula research. This family-owned and operated business is now widely renowned as the top goat milk formula in the U.K.

Goat Milk Formula

Every stage of the Nannycare formula contains the same primary ingredient: 100% natural, full cream, premium goat milk.

Goat’s milk shares many of the same basic elements you’ll find in cow’s milk, including water, lactose, protein, fat, and micronutrients but with some distinct differences and benefits.

Goat | My Organic Company

Closest to Breastmilk

Goat's milk has oligosaccharides (similar to breastmilk) that act as a prebiotic, making digestion and absorption easier, and contributing to healthy cell recognition and cell binding in your baby.

In fact, goat milk has about 10 times the number of oligosaccharides than those found in cow’s milk.

Vitamins and Minerals

Compared to cow's milk, goat's milk has higher amounts of vitamin A, riboflavin, calcium, potassium, and niacin.

Goat milk is also higher in taurine, a free amino acid that helps promote the healthy growth of babies' brains, eyes, hearts, and muscles.

Taurine helps to regulate their hormones, support a healthy immune function, and encourage the growth of muscle tissue.

A2 Milk

Goat’s milk proteins generally form a smaller, softer, and looser curd in the gut than cow milk formula, which makes goat’s milk formula naturally easier to digest.

Often if an immature digestive system shows signs of being lactose intolerant or having a milk sensitivity, the milk protein is often the culprit.

Recent studies have pointed specifically to the A1 beta-casein protein as being the main cause of discomfort, inflammation, and tummy troubles.

The good news is that when there are lactose concerns, infants who drink A2-only milk such as goat milk, report no abdominal discomfort or other milk protein side effects.

Benefits of Nannycare Goat Milk Formula

Nannycare sources its goat milk from a cooperative of 71 farmers who own rich pastures all across New Zealand. These farmers focus solely on producing the best-quality milk, designed strictly to be used in baby formula.

Pure Goat Milk

Using the best ingredients means that Nannycare is able to skip much of the processing and heat required to make other formulas safe and suitable for babies.

Nannycare formula only contains lactose, vitamins, minerals, and vegetable oil and none of the toxic ingredients that are found in over-the-counter baby formulas.

A huge benefit to this simplistic take on the formula is that the milk is only heated once, and at a minimal level, keeping all nutrients available for your little one.

No Palm Oil, No Coconut Oil

Palm Oil Free | My Organic Company

Nannycare does not use palm oil or coconut oil in any of its stages (allergen-friendly).

Instead, Nannycare uses vegetable oil. By leaving out palm oil and coconut oil, Nannycare increases calcium absorption in babies and protects areas from deforestation and damage to habitats around the world.

DHA

DHA is an omega-3 fatty acid, and high levels of DHA are essential to your baby’s brain development during infancy and early childhood.

Recent EU legislation requires that all infant and baby formula contain adequate levels of DHA. Each European-certified infant formula must contain 20 to 50 mg of DHA per 100 kilocalories (mg/100 kcal).

Alongside DHA, Nannycare also contains AA.

Great Taste

Nannycare formulas have a delicious, creamy taste your babies really enjoy. This is thanks to the premium Nannycare goat milk and gentle processing.

In fact, according to the Nannycare European website, taste trials in 5 European countries showed most mothers ‘Preferred the pleasant taste over the market leaders.’

Nannycare Baby Formula Stages

At the very basics, every stage of Nannycare formula contains the same primary ingredient: 100% natural, full cream, premium goat milk.

Each stage is developed specifically to meet the needs of your infant developmentally and cognitively.

Nannycare Stage 1: First Infant Milk

The Nannycare experts in goat milk formula have designed this stage of formula to be used all the way through the first year.

Made without starch, maltodextrin, corn syrup, or soy, this stage is gentle enough for the first days of life and nutritionally complete enough to support older babies through those big growth spurts.

Nannycare Stage 1 is balanced nutritionally to be a standalone formula or as the perfect companion to breastfeeding.

Per 100 ml of prepared formula, Stage 1 has 280 kJ of energy, 3.4 grams of fat, 7.4 grams of carbohydrates, and 1.3 grams of protein.

Nannycare Stage 2: Follow On Milk

As your little one begins to explore solid nutrition, Nannycare Stage 2 is nutritionally tailored for babies 6-12 months to complement the weaning diet.

Busy bodies and food exploration lend the need for higher levels of vitamin D, calcium, phosphorus, and iron at this stage.

This stage continues to contain DHA (Omega 3 LCPs) to support normal visual development and naturally occurring oligosaccharides similar in structure to human milk to help develop strong bones.

Per 100 ml of prepared formula, this stage contains the same amounts of energy, fat, carbohydrates, and protein as the Stage 1 formula.

Nannycare Stage 3: Grow Up Milk

Knowing that nutritional habits that are formed in toddlerhood have a huge impact on the overall health and well-being of our children, Nannycare continues with gentle nutrition through these formidable years.

Nannycare Stage 3 is uniquely designed for children aged 1 through age 3 as a supplement to varied and healthy solid nutrition and not as a meal replacement.

Per 100 ml of prepared formula, this stage contains the exact amounts of energy, fat, carbohydrates, and protein as the Stage 1 and Stage 2 formulas; however, families will find slightly elevated levels of vitamin D, calcium, and iron.
